Everything is in movement. Even when life appears perfectly still, an extraordinary dance is unfolding. Movement is so fundamental to existence that we can overlook it. Yet when we become still enough to pay attention, we begin to experience the wonder of it all.

Take a moment to be still. Notice your breath. Even when you are sitting quietly, your heart is beating, your lungs are expanding and contracting, and blood is flowing throughout your body. Millions of processes are unfolding without your conscious involvement. You are a living expression of movement.

Now expand your awareness to the Earth beneath you. It feels solid and still, yet the Earth is rotating at approximately 1,000 miles per hour while traveling around the Sun at nearly 67,000 miles per hour. All of this is happening while you sit quietly watching a bird.

Even the stones beneath your feet are participating in this dance. Their atoms are in constant motion, while wind, water, and changing temperatures slowly reshape them. What appears motionless is continually changing.

And the Sun? It, too, is traveling through the Milky Way galaxy, carrying the Earth and the rest of our solar system along on an extraordinary cosmic journey. We are moving through the vastness of space, even when we feel completely at rest.

So what does it mean to be still?

Stillness is not the absence of movement. It is an experience of being fully present with the movement of life without needing to change, control, or resist it.

Stillness and movement are inseparable expressions of Oneness. Even silence is alive with possibility. There is nothing outside this unfolding dance.

Take a moment now. Be still. Feel your breath, your heartbeat, and the Earth supporting you.

Can you experience the stillness within all this movement, and the movement within your stillness?
