Thrive and Awaken® Tip
Let’s separate fun from play. Fun for adults can include going out to dinner, visiting a museum, chatting with a friend, etc. These can be quite pleasurable. Playful is being silly, spontaneous, out-of-the box creative, or ecstatically curious. Being playful comes naturally to young children and even some animals.
As adults age, we appear less and less playful. Self-criticism seems to put water on the flame of play. It’s sad to think that adulthood takes the joy out of life. How does that happen? Play is frequently judged as not being mature, or we’re not going to do it well.
Take a moment to ponder if or how you are having uninhibited play. What gets in the way? Why do you deserve to be playful? Just because!
Good news–there is no expiration date on play. It is always available and refreshing. Life is a precious gift. Why not enjoy it to its fullest and thrive?!
