Thriving and Awakening Tip
Your nature is to see stressful situations from the lens of “Look what is happening TO me.” Your Survival Mode lens feels like a victim and is looking for a perpetrator, someone to blame for the distress.
Although normal, this Survival Mode lens is not healthy unless you are truly in a life threatening situation. It is not healthy because it activates your fight, flight, freeze reactions such that you don’t think clearly, your heart closes, and you’re likely to react in aggressive ways. The accumulation of this reactivity leads to anxiety, depression, chronic inflammation, interpersonal conflict, and more.
“Look what is happening FOR me” can be very challenging while also being very liberating. When you see life events as opportunities to learn how to be more grounded, calm, and heartfelt, you can CHOOSE how to respond from wisdom and compassion rather than reactivity. This is learning to Thrive which leads to greater happiness and better health.
