Thriving and Awakening Tip
Learning to walk or ride a bike requires falling. Speaking a new language will require fumbling over your words. Try shooting basketballs or hitting a tennis ball. How many times will you miss? In the beginning, more times than not.
If we don’t allow the fall, we create judgments and pressures that contribute to more falling. This can be a very self-defeating cycle and keeps us in Survival Mode.
Thriving in life is just as much about learning to stumble as it is learning new skills. When we allow and honor the various ways we fall, we are more likely to soar.
Take a moment and notice how you might be hard on yourself for not learning something well enough. This may be about effective communication, healthy eating, balanced spending, or any kind of activity. See if you can be compassionately curious about why you fall and then completely accept the fact you do. Now you’re on the way to Thriving!
