Thriving and Awakening Tip
Gandhi said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world”. This tip is a variation of that sentiment. Be the Love you want to see in the world.
In Survival Mode, you are likely to have a fight/flight/freeze reaction like anger to protect yourself and others. This is natural and in life threatening situations necessary. When you are in Survival Mode for everyday stressors such as driving to work, the anger is still natural, but not healthy.
The anger releases stress hormones that overtime negatively impact your immune and cardiovascular system. In addition, the anger is likely to evoke anger in return, magnifying negativity in the culture.
The only way out is Love. Be the love you want to see in the world, towards yourself and others. A form of love is compassion. If someone is driving slowly on the highway, consider having compassion because they are going as fast as they can given their capacity. Learning to manage anger and choose love is a key practice in thriving. The more you practice loving kindness the more it becomes automatic. The world needs all of us to be more loving.
