Thrive and Awaken® Tip
When was the last time you were alone and without a computer, cell phone, book, music, or anything else to consume your attention? How comfortable are you without thinking or doing something? With just Being?
Most people are not comfortable with the emptiness or nothingness that is sometimes called the void. We do everything to avoid the feelings that emerge when our mind is calm.
In Survival Mode our judgments are constant: I’m not enough; I looked like a fool; what is wrong with people…and so forth. Judgments and their reactions are consuming. If that isn’t enough, food, alcohol, social media, etc. are easy diversions from the void.
Thriving is learning to be comfortable visiting the void. We recognize the incessant busyness and learn to be with the spaciousness and fullness of being in the moment. We practice grounding in the moment, opening the heart, and clearing the mind.
In Awakening Mode we recognize and see the void as our deepest nature from which everything emerges. We learn not only to visit it, but how to reside within it. Think about how everything and everyone came from nothingness.
Try being in the void for 30 seconds. Be open to what emerges. This kind of deep reflection infuses the void with mystery and wonder.
