Two people talking across wires that form a loop in the shape of a heart. Quote from Doug: Anger is false power, Love is true power.

Thrive and Awaken® Tip

In Survival Mode it‘s natural to move into anger to protect yourself and others. Our recorded history and present day is filled with examples of people using anger for power. This might be a parent, boss, politician, organization, or head of a country. Millions of people have been murdered, enslaved, and oppressed because of an insatiable need for more power. Anger clearly is powerful, but the net effect is pain and suffering for you and others. It drains your body, hurts others you may love, and can lead to serious consequences. Anger is false power because it merely gives the impression of power. It is divisive and unpredictable and doesn’t have a lasting positive influence.

Love is the true power. It bonds us and helps us be our best. This is your natural inclination when learning to thrive and awaken to a greater consciousness. The opportunity is learning to access love and interact from that place when you become stressed. For example, in my couples’ work, we honor the feeling of anger, but not the amplified or physical expression of it. If you lead with anger in a relationship, you are wounding the very one you love. I’ll have couples take a break, clear the anger, then return and learn how to express feelings in a loving and respectful way. The love is healing and bonding and bridges the divide.
