Thrive and Awaken® Tip

Accepting what is at the heart level is the essence of Complete Acceptance. Its meaning becomes clearer when we walk through the steps.

The first step in learning Complete Acceptance begins with awareness that we tend not to accept what is. We are wired to resist what we don’t like. Resistance is part of our survival mode.

Take a moment and think of the things you do not like in life. Notice how you resist them. That resistance may show up as anger, frustration, withdrawal, or avoidance. There are many forms of resistance. Start by accepting that this is part of your human nature. In life threatening situations, resistance may be your best survival strategy.

The second step is having compassion for your resistance. This is where Compassionate Curiosity comes in. It means reflecting deeply from a place of kindness rather than judgment. Try opening your heart to all the ways you avoid or react, even when those patterns aren’t serving you. For example, you may avoid exercise or an important conversation. If you judge yourself for resisting, you are simply resisting your resistance.

The third step is accepting that life is evolving. We learn from what works and from what does not. Just as we fall off a bike to learn balance, we resist in order to see how resistance throws us off balance. When you bring Compassionate Curiosity to your experience, you become more aware and intentional in your choices.

The fourth step is recognizing that wherever you are in your evolution, you are complete in this moment. A tree is complete whether it is a sapling or fully grown. A three year old is complete at three. You don’t expect them to be ten. You accept them exactly as they are.

You can learn to Completely Accept yourself with compassion for where you are right now. Wherever you are is not a mistake. It is the ground from which the next step in your evolution naturally emerges.

Contemplation:

Take a quiet moment today and notice where you are resisting life. Instead of trying to fix or push it away, gently place your awareness in your heart and simply acknowledge what is present. Can you allow it to be here without argument? Complete Acceptance does not mean passivity. It means meeting reality with an open heart so that your next step arises from clarity rather than resistance. This is how Survival softens into Thriving which then opens into Awakening.
